Soil Dumped on Tracks: Another Train Derailment Attempt Prevented in Raebareli
In Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli, a potential derailment was averted after alert train loco pilots noticed a mound of sand dumped on the railway tracks near Raghuraj Singh station. The incident occurred during the night between Sunday and Monday (October 6-7), according to local authorities, as reported by India Today.
The pilots quickly reported the obstruction, leading to the removal of the sand and the resumption of normal rail traffic. “A minor heap of soil was found on the tracks, halting a shuttle train from Raebareli,” a Raebareli Police official stated.
Locals noted that ongoing road construction in the vicinity involves the use of heavy vehicles, which often operate during nighttime hours. On this occasion, a dumper driver inadvertently dumped soil onto the tracks and fled the scene, according to police official Devendra Bhadoria. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
This event adds to a growing number of derailment attempts across Uttar Pradesh.
In a similar case on Saturday, the driver of the Patalkot Express was forced to apply emergency brakes after spotting an iron rod placed on the tracks in Lalitpur, Jhansi district.
Back in September, a major disaster was narrowly avoided near Perambur Railway Station in Kanpur, where an LPG cylinder was discovered on the tracks. A quick response from the loco pilot of a goods train prevented the accident.
Additionally, in another September incident, the Kalindi Express hit an LPG cylinder on the tracks while traveling from Prayagraj to Bhiwani in Haryana. A similar attempt was reported in Punjab, where the Government Railway Police discovered nine iron rods placed on the Delhi-Bathinda Express tracks near Bathinda on September 22.
These consecutive incidents have raised concerns about the growing number of derailment attempts in the region.
